Description

Here is a piece I did in a painting class. It's my first wet on wet oil painting! I learned a lot of techniques, and got to try some things I never have before! I might go and do another class later as well.
For :icongimmefeedback:
What do you think of the composition? The rocks? The clouds? The waves? This isn't a piece I made out of my head, but what would you want to see on more of my other art from this piece? What could I use in a digital painting?

I think this painting is amazing - first off the light, even though you can see its there it gives me the impression its still dark outside, maby daybreak?
And second I love the colours! So few, and still I find that the painting just captures me, with all the different shades, its dreamy but still realistic.
I like the composition too. The mountains in the background goes from the dark to meet the light, witch have not jet reached the foreground rocks. And the wave kind of holds the rocks together, reaching for the light. And the light itself hides behind the clouds, or if its hidden. I think the clouds goes well with the wave too, they have a similar shape, but one is dark and one is light. And to top it off, as if to not make the skye too bright, we have the dark shapes of birds.
Really beautiful :)
The only thing I think of that can be improved would be the water on the left side in front of the rocks, it apears to be a little to "calm" considering that the wave is quite big. Maby it should be a little more wild, or in motion, like on the right side.
But then again, I dont really know how water works, so I may be wrong, it just came to my mind :)
Keep up the nice work :)
